Holiday Social Media Content Ideas for Your Business

Updated: Nov 5

It can be exhausting trying to come up with content ideas to keep up with the hustle and bustle of the holidays! That’s why I’ve created this list to help you plan out your content for the 4 biggest holidays coming up: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year!

The holidays are the busiest time of year, keep your followers engaged by following my tips on how to make the most out of your holiday content! These content ideas will help you stand out from the crowd!

Thanksgiving

Thankful for… series

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, it’s time to give thanks to those who have helped your business. A great way to do this is a series in the month of November where you center your social media content around appreciating and giving thanks to your employees, supportive partners, vendors, customers, etc. Doing this on social media will help humanize your brand and give your followers more insight into how your business works!

A few fun ways to do this would be:

  • A day in the life of an employee video! Take your followers through a typical day in the life of one of your employees. In the caption, be sure to give thanks and appreciate just how much that employee does for your business!

  • Post a video compilation of your appreciated employees, vendors, etc. Video compilations are huge on Instagram reels and Tiktok. Make it sentimental and special for both the employees and followers to see!

  • Of course, dedicate a post to thanking your customers/followers. You could go in so many directions with this! Create a video compiling your customers' positive reviews and just how much you appreciate them. Take your followers on your journey from when you started to where you are now and just how much you’ve achieved. (This could be in video or photo format)

Christmas

Digital Advent Calendar

People LOVE Advent Calendars because of the surprise and excitement it adds throughout the countdown to the 25 days of Christmas! (Or, you could easily opt to do the 12 days of Christmas!) A great way to keep your audience engaged throughout the busy month of December is to come up with a fun and interactive digital Advent Calendar! You could go in many different directions with this!

Here are a few ideas:

  • Host a small giveaway on your social media channels every day leading up to Christmas. Each day, you’d post a different product and have people enter to win that product in the comments! It’ll keep your followers on their toes not knowing which product is coming next!

  • This one’s a little specific: If you plan on releasing new products, create a digital advent calendar so that each day leading up to the release of your new product, there’s hints to what it is on your social media! You can have people try and guess and leave their ideas in the comments. People love a good mystery and surprise. This adds major hype for release day!

  • Holiday Gift Guide

Creating gift guides can be so helpful to give your followers ideas on what to buy from your business!

  • Get specific! All throughout the month of December, post multiple gift guides. Examples: Gift guide for the men in your life, grandparents, mom, etc. You could get trendy with it! A guide for millennials, or gen z’s! Etc.

  • Include products from your business in these gift guides, you could also collaborate and partner with other brands and create one big gift guide promoting all of your products! You could also turn it into a giveaway!

New Years

  • A year in review

This is a great time to create posts reflecting on milestones you’ve hit this year! Here are some examples of how you could do that!

  • Create a post taking us through the biggest hurdles you faced this year and how you’ve overcome them.

  • Tell your followers your favorite memories from the year by creating a montage video on Tiktok or reels!

  • Share what this year taught you!

  • If you sell different products or services, share your most bought/sold item this year.

  • Goals for the New Year!

It’s time to focus on the new year ahead of you and it’s time to shift your content to that as well!

  • This one may be a little obvious, but share your goals for the new year! Keep it related to your product or service and how you plan on achieving these goals!

  • Tease a new product or service that’s coming out this year! This is a great time to launch something new because people are craving change and trying to better themselves!

  • Ask your audience what they’d like to see from your business for the new year!

See more growth and engagement this season when you try my tips above! Which of these content ideas are you excited to use for the Holiday season?
